Biographical
Sketch of Dora Akins Jones
Dora
Akins Jones was born in 1886 in Doraville, Georgia. She was the
daughter of Mr. James F. Akins and his wife. In 1900, at the age
of fourteen, she was adopted by her aunt, Mary Sparks, because
of her mothers death and her fathers advancing age.
She went to school in Doraville and attended Prospect Methodist
Church. In the early 1900s she married Carlos Jones, who
would go on to become mayor of Doraville.
