Biographical
Sketch of A.A. Johnson
The collection
suggests A.A. Johnson was Willimore Trotter Johnson, wife of Archie
Johnson and daughter of Elizabeth Alston Trotter. A.A. Johnson
worked in association with the Johnson Coal Company in Coeburn,
Virginia, as the budget indicates income from coal sales. A.A.
Johnson (Willimore Trotter Johnson) was a member of the Daughters
of the American Revolution and a descendant of John Alston, who
was a captain in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary
War. She also served a term as President of the Coeburn Womens
Club around 1950.
Description
The A.A.
Johnson Papers include two photograph albums with pictures and
cards. The first photograph album, dating from 1913 until the
mid-1950s, displays family portraits, holiday and graduation pictures,
outdoor settings, and a series of photographs taken at Camp Rackett.
The Camp Rackett portion is particularly descriptive as each picture
has captions with names and brief explanations. The second album
contains more family photographs, including those of a wedding
in October, 1946. Most of these photographs are labeled. The third
scrapbook contains
Written
mementos of A.A. Johnson.
